Common scam patterns

Impersonation and fake support

  • “Support” will never DM you first. If you receive a DM claiming to be FatCat support, assume it is a scam.

  • If someone asks you to “verify” your private key or seed phrase, it is likely a scam.

  • If someone asks you to send a link to “fix” a problem, it is likely a scam.

If you didn’t start the conversation, treat it as a scam.

  • Lookalike domains (extra letters, weird endings).

  • Links from replies.

  • Fake token pages that mimic real projects.

Type the URL yourself or use a bookmark.

Fake tokens (copycats)

Scammers often reuse a popular name and ticker.

Always verify the mint address from an official source.

Wallet drainers (malicious signatures)

Some sites won’t “steal” funds directly. They get you to sign a transaction or message that enables theft later.

Read every signature request in your wallet. If anything looks off, tap Reject.

If something feels off

1

Stop and don’t sign

Cancel the transaction. Close the site or bot flow.

2

Disconnect and review recent activity

Sign out of FatCat and stop using the flow. Check your recent transactions in a trusted Solana explorer.

3

Move funds to safety

If you suspect compromise, transfer remaining funds to a fresh wallet.

Rule of thumb

If you can’t independently verify what you’re trading, don’t trade it.
